Frequently asked questions
Is DayCount EU free? Why are there ads?
The core of the app is free: the Schengen 90/180 count, days left, latest safe exit, trip log, "why this number" explanation, Border mode and basic reminders. Free accounts show ads, which pay for development. Premium removes the ads and unlocks unlimited planning, all tax jurisdictions, the Evidence Vault dispute pack and unlimited reports. Border mode, the paywall, sign-in and the Evidence Vault never show ads.
Lifetime or yearly: which should I choose?
Yearly is a subscription (about US$19.99, with a 7-day free trial) and renews automatically until you cancel. Lifetime is a single payment (about US$49.99) with no renewals, which many second-home owners and retirees prefer. Exact prices are set by the App Store and Google Play and shown in the app before you buy.
Do I need to sign in?
No. The free app works without an account. You only sign in (with Google or Apple) to buy premium or restore a purchase, so your purchase can follow you to a new phone. Signing in does not upload your trips.
Where is my data stored?
Only on your phone, in an encrypted database. Evidence files such as boarding passes are encrypted separately and kept out of cloud backups. There is no DayCount EU server that stores your trips, documents or notes.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Because nothing is stored in the cloud, a lost phone means lost data unless you exported it. Use Reports > Export trips (CSV) now and then and keep the file somewhere safe. You can import it on a new phone.
How accurate is it compared with the official EU calculator and EES?
The engine follows the Commission's published method (entry and exit days count; any 180-day window ending on a day of presence) and is tested against the worked examples in the Commission's own calculator manual and against thousands of randomised cases checked against an independent implementation. The border system's record is still the one that counts. DayCount EU helps you keep a count that should match it, and shows exactly how each number is reached.
Is this legal or tax advice?
No. DayCount EU is a planning aid. Tax results are indicators, not determinations, and other tests (home, family, centre of interests) can make you resident regardless of days. Border authorities' records are authoritative.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: More > Account > Delete account. You can also erase all data on your phone at the same time. Full steps are on the account deletion page. Your trips are not on any server, so deleting the account removes only your sign-in.
Which phones are supported?
iPhone (iOS) and Android. The apps are being prepared for the App Store and Google Play; the store badges on this site will link to them when they are live.
Does the app track my location or use analytics?
No location tracking. There are no analytics on your trip data, and this website uses no analytics. The advertising SDK used in the free version may collect device identifiers if you agree to it; see the privacy policy.
How do I contact support?
